Wellington Street

Wellington Street

Wellington Street is a notable entry to Kerang. It further defined as the visual access point to the town, a major thoroughfare through town and the edge of the shopping and dining precinct.

Design Features:

·         Deciduous trees lining the street from Victoria Street to the Koondrook entry define the shopping and dining experience
·         Enhanced pedestrian paths
·         Activated shopfronts
·         The memorial clocktower enhanced by seasonal planting

Experience
Entering Wellington Street the eye is drawn to the enhanced memorial which stands out as the marker for the town centre. The block nearest Victoria Street is immediately attractive as part of the shopping and dining experience of the CBD, This is reflected in the quality of the shopfronts and window displays.

In this street, and in other CBD streets there are no empty shopfronts. Where buildings have been vacated they are now used to showcase some of the creative minds in the area and to celebrate heritage. One such element is a new creative arts venture known as Street Stories. This installation features stories told by Kerang residents about their experiences and memories of the town. Drawn together, produced and curated by a local artist it provides a regularly changing source of interest for shoppers and visitors to the town centre.
