Experience
Entering Wellington Street the eye is drawn to the
enhanced memorial which stands out as the marker for the town centre. The block nearest Victoria Street is immediately
attractive as part of the shopping and dining experience of the CBD, This is
reflected in the quality of the shopfronts and window displays.
In this street, and in other CBD streets there are
no empty shopfronts. Where buildings have been vacated they are now used to
showcase some of the creative minds in the area and to celebrate heritage. One
such element is a new creative arts venture known as Street Stories. This
installation features stories told by Kerang residents about their experiences
and memories of the town. Drawn together, produced and curated by a local
artist it provides a regularly changing source of interest for shoppers and
visitors to the town centre.
