Fitzroy Street

Experience
Fitzroy Street marks the
transition from shopping hub to the recreational area of the town at the Sir
John Gorton Precinct.
Largely the area for
service oriented businesses and premises, it has a more open ambience made
distinctive by a double allee of trees on either side. Residents enjoy their
seasonal beauty and their ‘country in the town’ impact. Attractive planters,
shade structures and seating encourage businesses to activate the street
frontage. It is a pleasure to stroll down Fitzroy Street, and break away
through a new walkway to the shopping hub of Victoria Street.
Vacant sites in the
street are activated with interim uses. The walls of vacant buildings act as
galleries for temporary street art and lighting displays. Exercise classes and
play activities promoting health and wellbeing are given priority.
